Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Massachusetts
I had an account go delinquent while on maternity leave in 2009. It was reported to only one of the credit agencies and I paid it in full when I returned to work. Within the last month it showed up on another credit report causing my score to drop 82 point, and I'm currently house shopping. My question is can a creditor add derogatories to your credit report years after its original report, even years after its been paid causing unexpected changes to your score?

If you were delinquent or late on an account, and it is being reported accurately, I'm not sure I see a problem. My guess is that accurate information can always be reported to the credit reporting bureaus. However, you probably want to speak with a credit repair specialist.
