Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Massachusetts
What amount necessary?
A cancelled credit card I am trying to pay off wants a settlement that calls for a amount that I can not pay each month. If I continue with my payments faithfully each month, no matter the amount, can they still place this in a collection agency, or with their legal staff?

: What amount necessary?
Absolutely.
Unless there is some written agreement that details the obligations of each party, the company can do what is legally permissible, and the options you noted are two of them.

Re: What amount necessary?
Technically, if the card is in default, absent an agreement to the contrary, they can place it in collection.;)
