answer summons from credit card

I know I need to answer the summons, I just do not know how to word it.

I assume you received a complaint , along with a summons to appear, from a credit card company who alleges you owe money. In theory (pursuant to the doctrine of "Notice Pleading"), there is no set manner, in form or substance, for responding to a complaint, as long as the response is truthful and not knowingly false. In practice, however, the format of the response should be of a particular nature with which the courts are familiar. You do not answer the summons, unless it asks for you to appear in court, you answer the elements of the complaint. You can get a sample from your local law library. Remember you have a time limit.
