Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Massachusetts

Attempt to collect 8 years after voluntary Reposession

My wife and I had purchased a vehicle 8+ years ago and I was laid off from work and we could not afford the car. I spoke to the finance company and they instructed my to return it to the dealer where purchased. We did with no problems. Now

8 years later I was contacted by an out of state collections company stating that they are going to garnish my wife and my wages. They also stated that they are going to attach liens on my other vehicle. They have called many times, not to talk ,but to yell and curse at me and my wife or who ever answers the phone. I told them both by phone and in writing to send me

the debt and judgments in writing, with reply. Only more calls.

Retain an attorney. The facts as you describe them may be a violation of the Fair Credit Billing Act. Good Luck!
