Attys.attempt to collect a credit card debt

I was sent an attempt of collection from an attorney debt collector. i wrote back saying that I had filed bancruptcy in ''99'' the debt is for now they say $8,000. I also called their office and left a message saying that I could only give them so much a month...yet I recieved a letter from them saying that they have not heard from me,so again i called their office and left another message with a return phone #...what should I do now?

You should call me or another lawyer soon in order to protect your rights. If the debt comes from before the bankruptcy case, it probably is discharged, meaning that they can't collect it. Even so, a lot of dishonest bill collectors try to collect anyway, and they can be liable to YOU for a lot of damages. But you should have an attorney handle this for you.

Stop talking to these creditors and refer this matter to the attorney who represented you in bankruptcy. Good Luck!
