Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Massachusetts

BofA debt

I received a summons from a creditor (I owe 13000), I have filed my answer, and now I have a case management conference. What is this? Do I need to argue my case? I cannot afford an attorney, nor can I afford to pay back the owed amount. I do not want to file for bankrupcy, but do I have any other options? I have enrolled in a debt settlement program, gotten a second job etc. Will this work in my favor, showing that I am taking this seriously?

YOu not only received a summons, you also received a complaint.

In the usual circumstances, the creditor would have filed for a default judgment, and may still. You will then owe the debt, and costs, and legal fees.

You can negotiate a lump sum payment with the creditor's attorney.
