If my boyfriend bought me a car in his name as a gift because i have bad credit and we broke up who is responsible for the car at that point?

This is what we would call a mess.
The boyfriend is responsible unless he can prove that it is your car, which he made quite difficult by putting it in his name. Assuming you claim that the car is yours, you would be responsible for the car going forward. That will be difficult to claim for the same reason. Other options include you refinancing the loan in your own name and having him transfer ownership t you, or he may simply sell the car and payoff the loan. You cannot continue to drive a car that you do now own, that is not insured by you, etc. That will cause further problems for both of you.
