You should hire an attorney to represent you in this matter. He or she can assert any and all defenses you might have, and present any appropriate counterclaims. If you believe you can not afford an attorney, you should at least answer the complaint within 20 days to prevent a default from entering against you.
Hire an attorney to file an answer or do so yourself to avoid a default judgment from entering for your failure to timely answer the complaint. Good Luck!
There are many different ways to deal with being sued on a debt. You must file an answer yourself or through counsel. It is best to then request documents and ask them written questions about the alleged debt. For some people with multiple debts, bankruptcy is the right choice because it wipes out most debts.
