Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Massachusetts

How do I collect for a bill from someone who has moved away?

My ex-fiance and I purchased a couch and a laptop computer on two different accounts, both of which were in my name. When we separated we made a verbal agreement that he would pay these bills and keep possesion of the couch and computer. He has not paid either account. Do I have any legal right to require him to pay the bills? Can the items that he has not payed for be reposessed if he does not pay? Do I have any rights at all in this situation?

If the total value for the items is less than $2,000 bring him into Small claims Court in the Ditrict Court that has juridiction of the Town in which he now lives. If the total is greater than $2,000 retain and attorney to collect from him.
