I have a collection agency contacting my business by a computerized phone system and asking for an individual who does not work for me to call them. I have contacted them to please stop calling my business, yet it still goes on two weeks later with two phone calls a day into my voice mail system. How do I get them to stop this practice as it is disrupting my business and phone system.

If the debt is a consumer debt within the meaning of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, the debtor can send the debt collector a "Cease & Desist" letter. Any further communication with the debtor by the debt collector (unles expressly authorized by law) is a violation of the FDCPA and may subject the debt collector to actual damages, statutory damages, costs and attorney fees. Retain an attorney to send them a cease and desist letter under the Massachusetts erroneous billing statute.

Call the service and demand they cease and desist. File a complaint with the attorney general's office.
