Collection of Foreign Debt

I have been served a Summons for a debt I hold in England though I live in Massachusetts. Can I be held to this debt even though it relates to a bank in the UK? Could there be a statute of jurisdiction like a statute of limitation?

Retain an attorney and do not ignore this as there may be jurisdiction through a form of International "long-arm statute" or comity. Good Luck!
