Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Massachusetts

Could someone please tell me where I can find the law regarding collecting an old debt. I can't find any where that states after 6 years from the date of the last collection attempt. A collection agency is taking me to small claims court in November regarding a debt that was last attempted collection was Oct. 31, 1997.
