Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Massachusetts

Collections method

I have a collector from a law firm who is abusive and rude. I am trying by best to gather together money to pay this debt, but he leaves rude messages and i don't even want to contact him. Are there any laws against this method of collecting a debt.

Re: Collections method

There are laws at both the state & Federal level (both the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act & various provisions of the Code of Massachusetts Regulations) which protect consumers from unfair, abusive & deceptive conduct by collectors/creditors. Please feel free to contact my office for a free initial consult based upon the facts of your specific situation;))

Re: Collections method

Harassing or abusive collection tactics are illegal. See: Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, Massachusetts General Laws Chapter 93A, and the Code of Massachusetts Regulations regarding debt collection.
