Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Massachusetts
Credit card cosigner
My wife cosigned a credit card application for our daughter.
Later daughter put fiancee on credit card.
Credit card is overdrawn and no chance of their payback.
Is my wife liable or did the act of adding a second person make us not liable for the debt. Are we liable for her debt or both? We were not contacted about the second person being added. Application was made in MA and 2nd person was added in NH

Re: Credit card cosigner
I would have to examine all the appropriate documentation to render a qualified opinion.;)) Credit card agreements can be extremely tricky, for obvious reasons.
Re: Credit card cosigner
That is the risk your wife took. As a co-signator, she has liability, but the named person on the card is free to act.
As you described it, your daughter should have told your wife, and your wife is liable.
