Re: credit card debl
A creditor, or any lawful successor in interest, can bring an action to recover monies due and owing. The creditor, however, is limited by statute as to what he/she can attach or garnish. For example, pursuant to Massachusetts General Laws Chapter 151 A, Section 36, proceeds representing benefits for unemployment compensation cannot be garnished or attached.;) A creditor, however, can garnish your wages subsequent to judgment and subject to certain state and federal limitations. This area of law if quite complex. Please feel free to contact my office for a free initial consult based on the facts of your specific situation.
