creditors right to sue if they don't know how much one owes

I bought a cartwelve years ago the loan went into default and due to the bank changing hands repeatedly they lost all records of my payments they then sued me for the assumed balance of the remainder of the loan can they sue me if they do not know how much I owe?

This is a common problem, and you are right to question them. If they are suing you, they must prove their case. ONLY if they prove their case will you have to come up with evidence to show that they are wrong. If you need help, call me at 617-367-4260.
