Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Massachusetts

If my daughter has a student loan and I have not signed on anything and she's moved away and married do I have to keep having constant phone calls from creditors even if she dosen't live with me and changed her name and they have her phone number.Can i stop it.

If the student loan company (collection firm) will not listen to you, you may need to have an attorney write a letter. Student loans are not governed by the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, and the protections it offers do not apply. Feel free to contact my office if you would like further assistance.

If it is a collection agency, then the protections may apply, and you can advise them that henceforth all communications must be in writing.
