Dental Billing
I received a letter from an attorney representing my dentist stating a balance due of $2,600+ for services during the period 8/1993thru 11/94. I have never stopped seeing this dentist since that time and an unpaid balance was never mentioned to me whenever I have been in the office and I have not received any bills showing that balance. Now 7 years later we are told we owe a balance plus over $700 in service charges. Also,there are many things on the paperwork from the lawyer that don't make sense. Such as when you apply the payment the dentist has listed and compare that to what was paid by the insurance carrier, the doctor's shows a higher payment applied so obviously we had paid for the services. It also lists the charge for services as higher than the contract allowance by the carrier.
The whole thing doesn't make sense but since I being threatened with the possibility of a court case I am trying to get some information.

You probably don't have to pay that! There's a statute of limitations involved.
