Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Massachusetts

Can an employer sue an employee while still working for them?

A bit of an odd situation. I used to work for a large company. I left them 4 years ago and they tried to collect some money I owed them (Nothing happened, no lawsuit). Two years ago, I started working for them (different division)- Had thought the whole thing is behind us. NOw they are taking me to court for that amount. How odd is that!!!! Can an employer sue an employee? Isn't there a law banning that? Or something I can counterclaim (like unhealthy work environment, etc...).

Yes, and you can counter sue. There may be a statute of limitation problem. Given the information that's all I can say at this time.
