Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Massachusetts

I entered into a rental agreement with Aaron's appliances for a Rent to Own couch, Although i have missed a few payments I was surprised to find out that they came into my workplace to inquiry about this matter. Upon hearing that I had left for the day they informed my co-workers and doctor I work for that he had papers for me on non-payment of a couch. Is this allowed? It seems like slander to me.

Please advise
