Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Massachusetts

I am being hounded buy a lawyer about a credit card debt that I know nothing about. I have already contacted the credit agencies with the dispute. The lawyer is going to take me to court anyway, or so he says.

My question is in regards to a Statute of Limitations. The card is from HSBC which seems to be out of Nevada. The card was issued to an address in the state of Florida. I live in Massachusetts and this would be the state a court case would be filed in. Which jurisdiction would the debts SoL fall under?

The SOL question is open to debate and interpretation- it would require time and research to form an opinion, which, ultimately could be argued against by the other side. I'm sure we could make an argument for the State with the shortest SOL, and they could make an argument for the State with the longest SOL, and ultimately it would be up to the Judge to decide.

THEREFORE, I am going to suggest that you instead focus on the wonderful consumer protections you have available to you because you live in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

Perhaps they are not following State or Federal debt collection law and you be entitled to money damages.
