info about seized vehicles

I am writing to find out what the proper procedures are when dealing with a seized vehicle. On Saturday June 7, 2008, due to it being a Saturday, we could not contact the Sheriff�s department until Monday June 9, and after several attempts to contact through the office we finally got his Cell Phone number on Tuesday June 10, and left phone messages. The Sheriff called finally at about 6:30 PM on Wednesday June 11, an over was made at that point, the Sheriff stated that he would contact the collector and get back to us and as of Monday June 16 (1pm) we have not heard back. My question is what is the proper wait time and what is the typical turn around time for such issues.

Frankly, it depends upon what circumstances the seizure was predicated upon, ie; prejudgment attachment, a security interest under Article 9 of the Uniform Commercial Code, replevin etc..
