Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Massachusetts
Is it legal for a Massachusetts Law firm to obtain a judgement in a Massachusetts court against a resident of Texas? I owed CHASE a debt and they hired a Massachusetts law firm (because they thought I lived there) to obtain a judgement against me. I used to live in Massachusetts six years ago. I just found out about the judgement which was filed in MA last August.

You will need to have proof that you did not live in MA at the time of the filing of the case and then file a motion to vacate.
It is not "illegal" for the law firm to obtain judgment against you in this way. Unless you notified them of your new address, they probably just served you at the last address they had on file. This happens all the time, and their judgment against you should be VACATED since you were not properly served with court process.
You will need to hire an attorney to represent you here in Massachusetts. Our office handles these types of matters, and would be happy to settle this matter on your behalf.
