Massachusetts Mechanics Lein

I own an auto body shop. I repaired a vehicle that the customer can not now pay for, The finance company says they do not want the car back and we should persue the lein. How do we do this?We are selling our business in a few days and can no longer wait for payment from the customer. It's been since 7-31-07

Generally speaking, pursuant to Massachusetts General Laws, Chapter 255, Section 25, a person who stores, works on or cares for the motor vehicle of another, brought to their premises, shall have a lien upon such vehicle for the storage, work or care peformed. Such lien may be enforced according to the provisions articulated in Massahcusetts General Laws Chapter 255, Section 26, which essentially involves bringing a civil action to enforce the lien and sell the property.
