i have a person who i lent money to over the past five years. we are no longer friends and i think its only fair that he start to pay back the money he owes. i have had nothing but failed attempts when trying to dicuss this issue with him. so i am now looking into what i can do legally. He owes me 2,000 dollars.

A small claims suit is the way to go. Just bring proof you lent the money, and testify that he hasn't paid it back.
