Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Massachusetts

Personal credit card judgement

I received a ''default judgment'' against me for a $2000.00 credit card debt. Will the next step be me being summoned to district court to be examined?

Re: Personal credit card judgement

The Plaintiff (the credit card company who sued you) has several options. Pursuant to Massachusetts Law, they may summon you into court under the rules governing supplementary process to examine you as to the nature and extent of your assets available to satisfy the judgment, as well as to obtain a stipulated order for payments. Further, they may attach your non exempt property, garnish your wages and levy on any and all non exempt goods, effects or credits held by third parties and due and owing to you (by filing a motion for trustee process or a reach and apply). This is presuming you do not file and prevail on a motion to set aside the default, which would vitiate the judgment.
