Going after a primary on a loan who won't pay

I have an ex-boyfriend who I co-signed a loan for. He has never once payed the payments. I am the one who is, is there a way for me to recover the money from the loan since he was the one the check was made out to and was the one who spend all the money? Also, can I go after him for rent that was not payed to a rental property, which is now been made aware that is owed.

You can sue your boyfriend for "indemnification" and recover the money you have paid on his behalf. You do not provide enough information about the rent issue- the answer would depend on whose name(s) is/are on the lease and who was occupying the property at the time.
