Re: property seize?

If a judgment is obtained by a creditor, be it a credit card company or otherwise, such creditor can place a lien against your property to secure the amount of the judgment. As a caveat, a judgment debtor has a $500,000 exemption in the equity of the property provided such property is the primary residence of the debtor.

Re: property seize?

Yes, they really can, but a number of steps must be taken first.

Usually this end result can be prevented if you take the necessary steps early enough in the process. If judgment has been obtained by the creditor, you can call the court and try to have the judgment removed.
