Remove lien

How do I go about removing a lien from my house? Do I need to contact an attorney? Should I negotiate with the bank?

Re: Remove lien

You should definitely contact the bank and attempt

to negotiate. Ask them to accept a smaller figure

in order to save them time and the expense of their

having to hire an attorney to bring foreclosure

proceedings.

Of course, the nature of the lien may make a difference

in your approach. If you protest the amount of or the underlying reason for the lien, you can advise the

that you intend to bring your own action to vacate or

protest the lien. In that case, you would want to

hire your own attorney.

Most financial institutions prefer to save time,

as well as attorney and court costs. Even if the

lien is valid, you can avoid paying interest and court

costs by paying it prior to their beginning to enforce

it.

assistance.
