Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Massachusetts

Unauthorized Balance Transfer

I have an inquiry and not really sure how to handle this. I have several credit cards and requested the financial institutions to stop sending my statements in the mail and send them directly through my email address. I've just found out that those same companies have been sending balance transfer checks to my home address which someone in my home used them without my permission for over a year ago. What they did was deposit them into a joint checking account that also has my name on it. All this was going on without my knowledge.

Please note I do not wish to press charges against this person but would rather deal with that person ''in house'' However I did request with those financial institutions that NO MAILINGS should be sent to my home. I'm I correct in insisting that they accept full responsibilities for sending unsecured checks to a customer who has requested same companies to do not send statements in the mail for reasons clearly stated securities purposes. Or would it be more reasonable to ask them to bear partial responsibilities. Please note I am not and will not prosecute this person, and I am unmovable in this position. What is the responsibility of the institution on the companies and I'm I protected?

Re: Unauthorized Balance Transfer

The financial institutions, even if there was an error, to send the mailings to the address are not liable when a person uses them without authority.
