Re: unpaid rent

You should retain an attorney here in Massachusetts to handle this matter for you.

It is very likely that your former landlord's claim for unpaid rent would be unsuccessful because they have not brought their claim within the statute of limitations. This may not stop them from filing, and if their complaint is not answered a default judgment could enter against you.

Please do not hesitate to contact my office on Monday if you would like to discuss this matter further.

Re: unpaid rent

There may be a statute of limitation problem for the landlord. However, if you left the state, this could be a problem for you. My reaction is to let the landlord know that this is beyond the limitations period.
