Verbal agreements are not illegal.

I believe your question is probably whether verbal agreements are enforceable. They are as enforceable as written agreements, but harder to prove.

Verbal contract may be enforcible, unless barred by the Statute of Frauds.

Retain an attorney to review your specific situation as there are certain circumstances that may act as exceptions to enforcibility of verbal contracts.

Verbal agreements are enforceable, subject only to Massachusetts General Laws, Section 1, which articulates which agreements must be in writing ( referred to as the "Statute of Frauds").;))
