Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Massachusetts

wage garnishment

I had a debt collector file motion for wage garnishment. My employer received the summons to trustee to start witholding my wages and keep in trust. I filed a motion to have the amount reduced and went before a judge who agreed and signed the motion for the reduced amount. My employer has never done this before and we would like to know what happens to the money that is being held, which is a substantial amount more than what the judge said I had to pay. How can i get that money released back to me? Thank you very much

Re: wage garnishment

Only the garnished amount can be held, the rest is either credited or returned to you.
