Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Massachusetts

Can your wages be garnished in massachusetts for a credit card debt. I made payment arrangements with this collection co. And they stopped taking the payments via auto withdraw from my bank account.

Yes, but only if a judgment has entered.

A wage garnishment (in Mass these are called wage attachments or attachments on trustee process) is one way to enforce a judgment. A judgment is not simply the filing of a law suit. You might be able to successfully defend if a judgment has not entered. A judge might allow you to set aside a judgment if one entered within the past year.

Your chances of a successful defense increase if the plaintiff is a debt buyer and not the credit card issuer.
