Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Massachusetts

warrant for credit card debt

I received a warrant for a credit card that I stopped paying because the interest was 95% of the monthly payment amount.I tried to work out a plan with the original creditor with no success.Without any warning the new llc filed a warrant for it.They want $6000.the original amount was around $3000.What should I do.It states I have to file my answer to the complaint with the clerk of the court. How do I do this?

P my house is all paid off.I tried to get a home equity line of credit and was denied. Now what should I do?

Also could this credit llc put a lien on my property if I have a homestead act on it?thanks for any information.mj

Re: warrant for credit card debt

The homestead does not prevent an attachment or levy of an execution being recorded against your real estate, but it can not be enforced unless you have more equity in the property than the homestead protects. Retain an attorney to file an answer and perhaps negotiate a settlement.
