Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Massachusetts

I was wondering if there is any legitimate way to erase at least some credit card debt basically is there anything in the law that allows legitimate forgiveness of debt? with no or very little payment?

Yes, the creditor may settle the debt for less than the full amount owed.
