Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Massachusetts

wrongful lein

My husband had his truck repossed 10 years ago and has been repaying the loan on it. My husband called last week and ask the lawyer who is handling the case what was his balance. Then 5 days later that lawyer filed a lein on our house. When we asked him why all of a sudden he said because he can. Everytime my husband contact him this lawyer does something against my husband. It may have been legal what he did but it is not right. What are our rights against this lawyer. There is a question about him also double charging us. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

: wrongful lien?

To file a lien usually the person has to seek a court order. If you believe there is something wrong about the lien, contest the underlying action by filing a counterclaim, ask the court to vacate the lien, or file an action against the lawyer.
