Legal Question in Criminal Law in Massachusetts
when i was 17, i had stolen a bicycle from an individual and was charged with larceny over $250. does this make me a felon?

It depends. If you we're convicted (an actual guilty finding), then yes. If you received a continuance without a finding (cwof) and made it through your probation and the case was eventually dismissed, then no.

If unsure whether you received a guilty finding which would be a felony conviction or a continuance without a finding that was ultimately dismissed, which would not be a conviction, file a request for your CORI, your criminal record. Consult with an attorney if it was a conviction which you now wish to seek to have revised and revoked. Good Luck!
