First Rule of Criminal Defense: Just Shut Up!

Any time you are being accused of a crime or

are under suspicion, one rule always applies,

"just shut up." Hire a lawyer, let your lawyer

speak for you.

Sex offenses are a particularly serious problem

for suspects because such an accusation holds the

accused up to scorn and ridicule, and can have

severe consequences on the ability to secure

employment. Upon conviction, offenders can be

required to register as sex offenders. In some

states, people are required to post public notices

concerning their status as a sex offender.
