If the victim of Assault and Battery does not press charges, are there still consequences if the authorities were not there to witness the crime?

Re: Assault and battery

The collateral issue is that this person may have reported this to the police, and the police are the ones that will or may have a complaint issued. That's all I can say based on the informatin provided.

Re: Assault and battery

The Alleged victim can seek a complaint from the Court. If a dangerous weapon was involved, the police can seek a complaint even though they did not witness it. Civil action can be filed in either case. Further Questions?
