Legal Question in Criminal Law in Massachusetts

My boyfriend got arrested in Massachusetts and the judge held him without bail. When can he get a bail set? I'm the victim in this case but my boyfriend didn't mean to hurt me. He has a drug and alcohol problem and he blacked out. He doesn't even remember hurting me. I just want him home with me so I can get him professional help for his issues.

A judge sets bail at arraignment, and can reconsider the bail at any other time during court proceedings.
