My boyfriend was severly assaulted

My boyfriend was at a party with some college friends of his his oldest friend and her boyfriend were having and argument she told her boyfriend he was not invited to the party (her brothers were hosting the party) the girls boyfriend decided to show up at her house(where the party was) and tried to attack her brother my boyfriend then decided to try and break up the fight the girls boyfriend got mad and went after my boyfriend him and two of his friends had my boyriend on the ground and they started beating him no one helped my boyfriend i immediately came to pick him up when i heard what happend. after that night my bofriends face was completely bruised and severly swollen we went to the hospital luckily there was no damage physically but mentally my boyfriend is having severe anxiety issues he is no longer himself we decided to press charges and take the assault to court but the girl (whose boyfriend is the assaulter) got upset we filed charges and made up a story about how the assault was my boyfriends fault and she then orderd her brothers to not witness for my boyfriend at all and now we only have one witness all we want is for the asswaulter to get what he deserves how do we solve this problem??

It may be a difficult case to make if the witnesses will not cooperate with you. How good is the one witness you do have in terms of presenting your case? Did you report this incident to the police? Did they investigate? What did they say?
