Legal Question in Criminal Law in Massachusetts
Civil Commitment Laws
My father is in prison awaiting trial for child molestation. I was told in the beginning that if he pleads out, the district attorney would be able to seek civil commitment. However, I was told recently that there have been serious changes the civil commitment laws and that it may not be an option anymore. I was wondering if I could be told what the new civil commitment laws were, if there are any, or if I could be directed to a site that explains them in detail.
