Legal Question in Criminal Law in Massachusetts

clerks hearing VS. arraignment?

I got a letter in the mail letting me know that I have to appear at a clerks hearing in one month.

I am accused of stealing computers from my place of job and I was fired. I did admit I did the crime. total lost is

$16k.

now what is the difference between a clerks hearing which this is and an actuall arraignment??

I did agree with the company that I would pay all of it back.

thanks a lot sir/madam

Re: clerks hearing VS. arraignment?

A clerk's hearing is the stage before an arraignment. Thus far no charges have been entered against you, the clerk's hearing decides if charges will issue.

Run, don't walk, RUN, to a lawyer and hire a lawyer for this. Your company seeks to charge you with a very serious felony. The clerk's hearing will decide if the charges issue or not. It is your chance to work something out.

Do NOT attempt to represent yourself, or you may say something that you will regret.

Best wishes and best of luck.
