Legal Question in Criminal Law in Massachusetts

closing a docket

How should we proceed if my husband and I are looking to close a docket explaining the details of an assault and battery charge that was closed without a finding 2 years ago in the Wrentham District Court House for a case from the town of Walpole, MA. Can I amend the statement or close that page?

Does the closure of such a file look suspicious to future employers?

How can we best convince the judge that the charge has no merit and threfore should be deleted from his record?

Re: closing a docket

You would need to file a petition to seal the record, which as you suggest, does sometimes look suspicious to future employers.

Consider retaining an attorney to assist you with this as there are too many variables to answer here.

You cannot amend. Your ability to seal, depends in part, on the plea or disposition.

It is unclear what you are trying to convince the judge.

If you have more specific information, I can provide a more specific answer; so please contact me.
