Legal Question in Criminal Law in Massachusetts
I was convicted of larceny in MA and given a 2 year suspended sentence, probation and ordered to pay restitution. My question is, at the end of the two year period is the suspended sentence done or does it still exist as long as I am on probabtion and paying restitution?

The 2 year suspended sentence refers to how long of a sentence you have "hanging over your head". This 2 year period is not necessarily the length of time you are on probation for. For example, you could have 2 years hanging over you head for 1 year. When your probation period is over, you will no longer have the 2 year suspended sentence over your head. If you have not completed all the terms of your probation, however, say by not paying all your restitution, your probation will not be over, and the 2 years will continue to hang over you.
