cori checks for employment are they double jeopardy
I am 26 years old and when I was 19 I got into a fight, due to the fact that I kicked the other person during the fight I was charged with assault and battery with a dngerous weapon. I have not been arrested since and have been generally a good citizen. One problem I seem to keep running into though is that school programs and jobs see this on my cori check and deny me entrance into the program or employment depending on which scenario is playing out at the time. This seems extremly unfair to me and also sounds as if this could be viewed as double jeopardy since I am quite literally being punished multiple times for the same offense. I would assume that current law is not on my side but was wondering if there is an appeals process that I may be able to go thru individually, such as having an offense expunged. Or if it would be possible challenge the law that allows certain institutions to bar you based on what amounts to a simple childhood mistake. Any information or advice you could give me concerning this topic, even if it is only a source of information will be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time and consideration.
