Legal Question in Criminal Law in Massachusetts

Criminal Charges not yet filed-help

My husband ended a friendship with a friend due to the guy's disrespectfulness towards me. My husband told me some things this guy said about me to him - it made me very upset & I'm not a violent person at all. I do not have a record and I work in a law firm as a legal asst. (20 yr career)

I made an awful mistake: I continuously e-mailed this guy to the point of harassing & also placed his e-mail address & some personal information (his cellphone number/e-mail address) on some online dating service profiles I created. He repeatedly responded to me to stop e-mailing him & I ignored him & kept doing this. This went on for a few months. In one of his responses he said he has contacted the police to investigate. He has numerous friends who are policemen. Anyhow, I received a call from a city detective in Boston. Suffolk DA's office intends to charge me in District Ct but I'm not sure what charges yet. I hired an atty to investigate & he told me they will charge me. Obviously, I feel horrible & am very upset as the impact of the charges will ultimately destroy my career. Can you advise me what is best course to minimize or eliminate charges? One of this guy's friends signed me up for dating service and threatened me. Thx

Re: Criminal Charges not yet filed-help

I am sorry for your dilemma. If you have already hired a lawyer to handle the case, shouldn't you be asking your lawyer this strategy question? I would be more than willing to speak with you, but if you have already retained an attorney, I would defer to your attorney's advice.
