Legal Question in Criminal Law in Massachusetts

Criminal extortion

Is it possible to file charges of criminal extortion charges in Massachusetts against a Massachusetts company who is withholding my hosting commission checks(now totaling about $300) until I give them a domain name which I own and they want. They have no legal right to the domain name, although I was allowing them to use it on a temporary basis when I was working more closely with this company. When they severely reduced their support staff, I began moving my hosting customers to another hosting company. At that point they decided they wanted to own the domain name I had purchased. Rather than offer to purchase the name, they chose to simply stop paying my commissions until I gave them the domain name.

Re: Criminal extortion

I am not sure it rises to extortion, but you can send out a 93a letter of demanded by certified mail with return receipt as to the Commission.
