Legal Question in Criminal Law in Massachusetts

Criminal receiving stolen property

My father often buys items on Craigslist and sells them for a profit. Last year he bought and sold a Vespa scooter. Today the state police show up and arrest him because it ended up being stolen. He also had another Vespa scooter he had bought from Craigslist for parts and upon running the VIN that one was also stolen. He didn't have a clue they were stolen. When selling the one a year ago he gave the buyer the bill of sale he was given, and didn't get a bill of sale for the other one as it was just for parts. He let them in the garage, if he knew it was stolen he wouldn't have been so stupid to do so, yet they don't believe him and still arrested him. I want to obtain a ''good'' lawyer for him. Anyone have a clue what kind of $$ I should expect to spend for a lawyer in this case.

Re: Criminal receiving stolen property

Hiring a good lawyer is the best thing that you can do to assist your father. I don't think that any lawyer is going to give you a fee quote on a site posting like this. However, if you call my office (get the number from the web site) I can probably give you an estimate if you can give me a little more information such as what court he is in and any previous criminal history.
